One of our directors came up with the idea of founding a nursery after trying to place their child into nursery daycare in 2006, without success. The problem was that there were no really high quality nurseries that focused on both the children and parents. This director’s high standards couldn’t be met by any other childcare business he visited, and so Banana Moon Day Nursery was born.

Parents quickly realised that there was something different about this nursery, the setting was superior to others, much safer and the experience left their children feeling happy and fulfilled. News of these positive results spread quickly, as parents began recommending Banana Moon Day Nursery to their familiy and friends. In under a year, the nursery was full and a second nursery opened in order to cater to increasing local demand. Within a few months both nurseries had earned the accolade of being the “best in Warwickshire”.

The ethos of the Banana Moon brand, to put the children first, and the intention to develop a successful business model, stayed congruent, even as the brand grew, and we began to franchise the business in October 2010. Banana Moon is a real success story with 10 franchises signing up to open their own Nursery in the first year.

6. Getting stuck in

Once your nursery is open, your role will vary depending upon how involved you wish to be. We’ll advise you on regulatory staffing requirements and required roles and you can see where your skills best fit.

8. What’s in the Banana Moon Franchise Package?

Well, everything you need to get your nursery off the ground as quickly and easily as possible. The full package is available for £47,500, followed by a monthly fee of 9.5% of the total monthly sales income.

9. Buying into Banana Moon

Our franchisees typically invest between £120k and £180k (not including property purchase or rental costs), meaning you should have £60k ‘liquid’ capital reserves before applying for a franchise, with remaining funding from the bank.

10. What you can expect to achieve

To indicate your possible performance, turnover of smaller nurseries is around £240k with a net profit of around £50k per year. Larger settings can reach over £1m turnover with a net profit of around £200k.
