Vacancies - Quality Improvement Advisor – North East / North West

A fully expensed company vehicle will be provided for this role.

Role and Responsibilities
  • To assist in the provision of a support network to all Franchisees and their nurseries in the UK and overseas. To deliver and promote the Banana Moon Day Nursery brand values, ensuring that the quality of care and education being offered at each individual nursery is to a high and consistent standard.
  • Assist nursery managers and their teams to set high standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five as specified in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Communicate effectively with the Franchise Operations Manager to identify areas for support in response to recent audits and support visits.
  • Maintain ‘note of visit’ records and ‘audit reports’ or sufficient other records to be sent to the nurseries and quality improvement manager within a reasonable time after the visit, so that a picture can be built up and recorded over time to assist with the auditing and review procedure.
  • Ensure that all nurseries and their teams are progressing through their actions and/or recommendations within the appropriate time scales.
  • To help prepare Franchisees and Nursery Management teams for the opening of their nursery. Assisting in all areas including providing the relevant training etc. to allow them to operate under the Early Years Foundation Stage and the Banana Moon brand.
  • Use interpersonal skills in order to develop professional and collaborative relationships across the company and amongst the franchisees.
  • Have good problem solving and analytical skills in order to build capacity within settings; so that nursery managers and early year’s colleagues are able to identify and tackle issues for themselves, thus avoiding excessive dependency on the Head Office Team.
  • To visit the nurseries on a regular basis in line with the schedule of visits log and to spend the appropriate amount of time at the setting, as discussed prior to the visit with the Franchise Operations Manager.
  • Support the individual nurseries to progress children’s learning and development – focusing on using observations to assess and understand children’s learning and development, both in the home and the setting, and translating observations of children at play into an assessment of each child’s progress to help support them further.
  • Secure high quality environments for learning and development – focusing on the enabling environment (including the three prime areas), which promotes children’s well-being, nurtures children and fosters positive relationships between children parents and adults, and where children are valued for their uniqueness and individuality.
  • Ensure that nurseries fully implement the Early Years Foundation Stage and meet the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements.
  • Ensure that the nurseries are complying with the brand values and the Operational Plans of Banana Moon Day Nursery Limited.
  • Support practitioners to have a sound understanding of the EYFS and support the achievement of at least a good’ grade when nurseries are inspected by Ofsted.
  • Work with staff to achieve development plans, to contribute to SEFs and action plans and support the nursery teams to update them regularly.
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work. Ensure accident, incident and risk assessment records are maintained to an acceptable level and monitor the information therein.
  • To ensure any specialised training received is filtered through into the nurseries and built into the practice of colleagues.
  • To adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Assist and support the nurseries with regulatory inspections and during Compliance Investigations (which may involve a full inspection)
  • To initiate new policies and procedures as and when necessary – in accordance to feedback from nurseries / government / Local Authorities etc. to ensure that all documentation (policy and procedural) is up to date with current thinking and legislation.
  • It will be necessary to work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with companies’ policies.
  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the company’s equal opportunities policies.
  • To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.
  • Deliver internal workshops & training programmes across the nurseries to a consistent high standard. Be able to deliver/attend such meetings and courses outside nursery opening hours.
  • Effectively manage and report upon projects assigned by the Franchise Operations Manager as appropriate.
  • Follow all company procedures at all times, whilst offering any innovative views and ideas so that we constantly review our service for any opportunity to improve.
  • However, occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the company.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Flexibility and good time management is key to this role in order to manage a complex workflow and adapt to a rapidly changing and reactive work schedule.
  • A full and relevant level 3 qualification as defined by Children’s Workforce Development Council.
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualifying experience and a proven successful past management record.
  • Qualification/Training in safeguarding children and prevent duty.
  • Experience of implementing SEND and the EYFS requirements regarding children with additional needs.
  • Experience of managing staff & facilities & knowledge of the principles of effective leadership.

8. What’s in the Banana Moon Franchise Package?

Well, everything you need to get your nursery off the ground as quickly and easily as possible. The full package is available for £47,500, followed by a monthly fee of 9.5% of the total monthly sales income.

9. Buying into Banana Moon

Our franchisees typically invest between £120k and £180k (not including property purchase or rental costs), meaning you should have £60k ‘liquid’ capital reserves before applying for a franchise, with remaining funding from the bank.

10. What you can expect to achieve

To indicate your possible performance, turnover of smaller nurseries is around £240k with a net profit of around £50k per year. Larger settings can reach over £1m turnover with a net profit of around £200k.
